PENAMALUT.COM, JAILOLO – Menteri Kelautan dan Perikanan (KKP), Sakti Wahyu Trenggono di sela-sela kunjungan ke Maluku Utara menyempatkan waktu meninjau kelompok budidaya rumput laut di Desa Wisata Air Panas Galala, Kecamatan Jailolo, Kabupaten Halmahera Barat, Senin (7/3).
Menteri Sakti pada kesempatan itu didampingi Dirjen Perikanan Budidaya, Direktur Badan Layanan Umum Lembaga Pengelola Modal Usaha Kelautan dan Perikanan (BLU LPMUKP) dan juga dari pihak Balai Perikanan Budidaya Laut (BPBL) Ambon beserta Wakil Gubernur Malut M Ali Yasin, Sekprov Samsudin A Kadir, dan Anggota DPR RI Alien Mus dan juga anggota DPD RI Namto Hui Roba.
Saat ditemui di lokasi budidaya rumput laut, Menteri Sakti mengungkapkan bahwa rumput laut merupakan suatu komoditi yang cukup bagus dan Halmahera Barat ke depan bisa dikembangkan menjadi pusat budidaya rumput laut, karena sebagai salah satu keunggulan komoditi Indonesia untuk diekspor.
“Jadi tidak hanya sekarang ini misalnya produksi baru 20 hektar, luasannya kita pengen ditingkatkan 10 kali lipat lagi,” ujarnya.
Ia menyebut ada potensi 100 hektar yang nantinya dikembangkan 10 kelompok yang nantinya setiap 45 hari panen, maka dalam setahun bisa 8 kali panen. Dengan begitu, tingkat kesejahteraan bisa meningkat, apalagi harganya cukup bagus.
“Jadi intinya sekarang apa yang harus kami bantu. Yang terpenting itu. Saya juga sudah minta seluruh perangkat yang di bawa untuk menjadikan kampung setempat sebagai kampung budidaya rumput laut,” katanya.
Sementara Bupati Halmahera Barat, James Uang menyampaikan ada sejumlah harapan kepada Menteri KKP. Semoga pasca kunjungan ini bisa membantu pengembangan rumpat laut yang ada di Desa Galala.
“Pak Menteri KKP sudah menjelaskan lebih jauh juga bahwa rumput laut ini memang disuport betul. Ii juga salah satu strategi bagaimana meningkatkan ekonomi masyarakat sekitar. Jadi harapannya Pak Mentari bisa mensuport pengembangannya,” harapnya. (adi/ask)
