PENAMALUT.COM, TERNATE – Sebanyak 8 atlet cabang olahraga (Cabor) dayung Maluku Utara akan bertanding pada Kejuaraan Nasional (Kejurnas) Dayung Cipule Purwakarta, di Jawa Barat pada 8 hingga 18 Desember 2022.
Keberangkatan atlet dayung asal Maluku Utara dilepas secara resmi oleh Sultan Ternate, Hidayatullah Sjah dan Ketua Umum KONI Malut, Djasman Abubakar, bertempat di Karaton Ternate, Senin (5/12) malam.
Dalam sambutannya, Penasehat Pengurus Dayung Seluruh Indonesia (PODSI) Malut, Sultan Hidayatullah Sjah, menitipkan spirit bangsa pelaut kepada para atlet yang akan bertanding membawa nama baik daerah pada level nasional.
“Semangat yang dibangun atlet dayung Maluku Utara sebagai daerah dengan karakter masyarakat pesisir, harus mampu meraih prestasi gemilang dari provinsi lain di Indonesia,” ucapnya.
Meski begitu, ia juga mengakui mencari atlet dayung di Maluku Utara terbilang sulit. Pasalnya, salah satu kategori yang dilihat yakni postur tubuh yang harus tinggi. Namun bukan berarti para atlet tidak bisa maraih prestasi.
“Saya yakin, keluar dari kadaton nanti pulang membawa prestasi. Terpenting itu jangan terkontaminasi dengan materi. Olahragawan atau atlet ketika terkontaminasi dengan materi, fisiknya akan melemah, karena pikirannya sudah terganggu,” imbuhnya.
Karena itu, Sultan berpesan kepada para atlet untuk menanamkan dalam benak mereka bahwa kemenangan adalah fokus utama. Ia juga meminta para atlet menjadikan slogan horu saat bertanding nanti.
“Tidak usah malu. Slogan horu itu semacam sugesti untuk mendatangkan kekuatan, dan terbukti pendahulu kita pakai itu (horu), 72 pulau besar bisa ditempuh dengan berdayung,” katanya.
Sementara, Ketua Umum KONI Malut, Djasman Abubakar, memberikan apresiasi kepada Pengurus PODSI, sekalipun di tengah keterbatasan anggaran, dayung secara mandiri mengukiti Kejurnas di Jawa Barat.
Lanjutnya, KONI Malut tentu tidak menutup mata kepada cabor dayung. Pasalnya, kata dia, sesuai dengan visi yang diusung, KONI Malut harus menjadi rumah yang nyaman bagi seluruh cabang olahraga termasuk dayung.
“KONI akan berpatisipasi dalam rangka ikut serta membangkitkan prestasi olahraga di Maluku Utara. Kepada para atlet dayung, jangan takut bersaing dengan provinsi lain. Yakin bahwa kita juga bisa meraih prestasi,” tandasnya. (tan)
