PENA – Kecelakan lalulintas (Lakalantas) kembali terjadi di jalan protokol, tepatnya di trafick light, Kelurahan Sangaji, Kecamatan Ternate Utara, Kota Ternate, Sabtu (30/1) sekira pukul 02.50 WIT dinihari. Kecelakaan tunggal itu menewaskan dua pemuda kakak beradik.
Informasi yang diterima, peristiwa kecelakaan ini bermula ketika SSM (25) yang mengendarai sepeda motor Yamaha Jupiter bernomor polisi DG 5215 KE. SSM tidak sendiri, ia memboncengi RM (20) yang tak lain adalah adiknya sendiri.
Keduanya melaju dari arah utara menuju ke selatan kota. Sesampainya di kantor PDAM yang merupakan jalan menurun, SSM tak bisa lagi mengendalikan sepeda motornya dan dengan kecepatan tinggi langsung menabrak tiang trafick light.
“Pengemudi sepeda motor los kontrol, akhirinya menabrak tiang. Tubuh korban membentur tiang trafick light yang menyebabkan pendarahan di kepala dan mengakibatkan korban meninggal di tempat kejadian,” jelas Kasat Lantas Polres Ternate, AKP Setiaji N. Atmojo.
Sementara RM mengalami patah pada kaki kirinya. Korban RM meninggal pada saat dilarikan ke rumah sakit. “Baik pengemudi maupun yang diboncengi tidak menggunakan helm,” sambung Setiaji.
Keduanya diketahui baru pulang dari acara pesta di Kecamatan Ternate Utara. Kedua korban merupakan warga Desa Gorup, Kecamatan Pulau Makean, Halmahera Selatan. Saat ini jenazah keduanya telah di bawa ke kaampung halaman.
Atas kejadian itu, Kasat Lantas mengimbau kepada masyarakat yang berkendara menggunakan kendaraan roda dua atau roda empat agar selalu taat berlalulintas. “Jangan mengabaikan komponen saat berkendara yang akan menyalamatkan kita sewaktu-waktu ada kecelakaan. Kita ini manusia, jadi harus ikhtiar,” tukasnya. (nda)
