PENAMALUT.COM, JAKARTA – Ketua Umum Partai Demokrat, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), menolak keras upaya pengembalian sistem pemilu (Pemilihan Umum) menjadi proporsional tertutup. Bagi AHY hal tersebut memundurkan kualitas demokrasi.
“Kami Partai Demokrat menolak keras upaya untuk mengembalikan sistem Pemilu dari sistem proporsional terbuka menjadi proporsional tertutup. Ini memundurkan kualitas demokrasi, mengembalikan model kekuasaan sentralistik dan menafikkan kerja keras kader partai dalam membina konstituennya,” tegas AHY, Selasa (3/1).
Bagi AHY, sistem yang sudah berjalan selama ini ditujukan untuk modernisasi partai.
“Masalah-masalah yang muncul akibat penerapannya bisa dijawab dengan upaya perbaikan kolektif, tanpa harus menghancurkan langkah progresif yang sudah dijalankan selama ini,” tambahnya.
AHY mengajak semua pihak menjaga komitmen berdemokrasi dan menjaga amanah reformasi. Keputusan penggunaan sistem pemilu adalah keputusan politik hasil proses panjang legislasi dan kesepakatan politik yang legitimate.
“Jangan sampai perdebatan ini mengacaukan fokus, perhatian, dan persiapan kita menuju Pemilu 2024. Jangan sampai pewacanaan sistem proporsional tertutup ini jadi alibi penundaan pemilu, hingga langkah awal menuju resentralisasi kekuasaan melalui pengembalian sistem Pilpres tidak langsung. Mari jaga amanah reformasi agar Indonesia tidak mundur lagi ke model otokrasi,” tandas AHY.
Sebelumnya, Ketua Komisi Pemilihan Umum (KPU) RI, Hasyim Asy’ari memberi pernyataan bahwa kemungkinan Pemilihan legislatif (Pileg) 2024 akan kembali menggunakan sistem proporsional tertutup. (gon/ask)
