Soal Ikan Mati Mendadak di Pulau Obi, KATAM Desak Pemerintah Segera Turun Tangan

PENA – Warga Desa Bobo, Kecamatan Obi, Kabupaten Halmahera Selatan, digegerkan dengan matinya puluhan ikan secara mendadak dan terdampar di tepi pantai desa tersebut. Fenomena ikan mati mendadak ini terjadi sejak 18 Januari lalu sampai sekarang.

Belum diketahui penyebab matinya ikan tersebut. Ini membuat warga resah dan bertanya-tanya. Warga pun meminta pemerintah agar segera turun tangan menangani masalah ini.

Menanggapi persoalan ini, Konsorsium Advokasi Tambang (KATAM) Maluku Utara mendesak Pemerintah Provinsi Malut maupun pemerintah setempat agar segera menanganinya. Sebab kasus pencemaran laut ini banyak terjadi di daerah, yang mengundang banyak tanda tanya. Ini karena berpengaruh terhadap masyarakat nelayan, misalnya terjadi penurunan tangkap. “Kenapa terjadi penurunan produksi ? Sampai sekarang pemerintah daerah belum mampu melihat persoalan ini,” kata Ketua KATAM Malut, Muhlis Ibrahim, Jumat (19/2).

Terkait dengan matinya ikan yang banyak terdampar di Desa Bobo, Kecamatan Obi, Kabupaten Halsel, merupakan salah satu gejala serius yang harus diseriusi pemerintah. Pemrintah, kata Muhlis, harus melihat fenomena ini sebagai suatu fenomena ekologi yang tak bisa dianggap remeh. Laut menjadi sumber kehidupan bagi masyarakat yang ada di Obi khususnya, dan Maluku Utara pada umumnya.

Fenomena ikan mati ini karena pencemaran laut dan ini terjadi beruntun. Problem lainnya adalah ketika ikan yang belum mati dan sudah tercemari lalu ditangkap nelayan dan kemudian dikonsumsi masyarakat. “Maka ini sebuah masalah besar bagi kesehatan masyarakat. Pemerintah jangan berdiam diri, harus secepatnya turun menangani masalah ini,” pintanya.

Muhlis berharap pemerintah harus melakukan riset secara terbuka terkait penyebab matinya ikan di Pulau Obi ini. Sebab Pulau Obi merupakan lokasi beroperasinya sejumlah perusahaan tambang dan salah satu diantaranya dikabarkan telah mengantongi izin kawasan perairan. “Dinas Lingkungan Hidup juga harus melakukan audit lingkungan baku mutu air laut dan baku mutu lingkungan lebih khusus soal perairan. Apa langkah evaluasi dan audit lingkungan tambang itu yang paling terpenting,” harapnya. (*)
