PENA – Upaya pemerintah mengejar pertumbuhan ekonomi nasional tidak harus dengan menghalalkan segala cara. Apalagi cara itu, salah satunya adalah dengan memberi keleluasaan kepada korporasi pertambangan di Maluku Utara untuk merusak kelestarian alam.
Hal tersebut disuarakan oleh Front Anti Tambang dan Limbah (FRONTAL) Maluku Utara saat menggelar aksi unjuk rasa di Kantor Harita Nickel dan di depan Kediaman Gubernur Maluku Utara, Kota Ternate, Rabu (24/2).
Mereka menuntut, aktivitas pembuangan limbah tailing ke laut dalam, yang dilakukan oleh salah satu anak perusahaan Harita Nickel, yakni PT Trimega Bangun Persada (TBP) agar segera dihentikan.
Banyak kekayaan alam nikel di Pulau Obi kabupaten Halmahera Selatan. Aktivitas pertambangan yang dimotori Harita Nickel disana telah berlangsung sangat lama. Baru pada 2019 lalu, Harita Nickel melalui anak perusahaannya membangun smelter untuk pengolahan limbah. Dari smelter ini, bijih nikel yang dikelola dengan metode hidrometalurgi menghasilkan limbah yang begitu banyak. Parahnya lagi, limbah tersebut akan dibuang ke laut dalam.
Upaya Harita Nickel melakukan pengrusakan laut di Pulau Obi berjalan makin mulus setelah Dinas Penanaman Modal dan Pelayanan Terpadu Satu Pintu (PMPTSP) Provinsi Maluku Utara memberikan izin lokasi perairan pada tahun 2019. Bagi FRONTAL, hal ini mengindikasikan pemerintah provinsi telah memberi restu atau melegitimasi korporasi pertambangan untuk merusak alam laut di Pulau Obi.
“Pembuangan limbah ke laut dalam tentunya akan berakibat pada pengrusakan ekosistem laut di Pulau Obi, dan tentunya akan memberikan dampak negatif secara ekonomi kepada masyarakat, terutama nelayan,” kata koordinator FRONTAL, Masdar, saat unjuk rasa.
Tak hanya menggelar aksi di depan kantor Harita Nickel, masa aksi juga bergerak ke kediaman Gubernur Maluku Utara Abdul Gani Kasuba. Di hadapan orang nomor satu di Malut tersebut, masa aksi meminta agar izin lokasi perairan yang telah dikeluarkan oleh Pemprov Malut untuk segera dicabut.
Mereka bahkan mendesak kepada Gubernur agar tidak segan-segan mencabut izin perusahaan tambang yang bertindak semena-mena di Maluku Utara. Hal itu tidak hanya berlaku untuk Harita Nickel semata, tapi seluruh perusahaan tambang di Maluku Utara.
“Jika tuntutan kami tidak didengarkan, maka perlawanan ini akan kian diteriakkan. Kami desak Gubernur agar mengakomodir dan segera menindaklanjuti tuntutan kami. Jika tidak, kami akan kembali dengan masa yang lebih banyak,” tegas Masdar.
Sementara itu, Gubernur Abdul Gani Kasuba saat menemui masa aksi menyatakan akan mencabut izin perusahaan tambang yang telah merusak lingkungan, baik itu Harita Nickel maupun PT IWIP yang beroperasi di Lelilef, Halmahera Tengah.
Sedangkan terkait izin lokasi perairan, DLH Malut menyatakan izin tersebut tidak dikeluarkan oleh Pemerintah Provinsi Maluku Utara, melainkan Pemerintah Pusat. Namun pihaknya tidak mengetahui pasti dari kementerian mana izin tersebut dikeluarkan karena tidak pernah disebutkan. (*)
